What assistance can I expect whilst training?
Mentoring
Throughout any teaching course students have the support of a college/university tutor who will visit them in their school and assess their work.
In school, the teacher-tutor and other teaching staff will be there to offer help, advice and support. Progress will be closely monitored to help pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, and to prepare students fully for a career in the classroom.
In addition, fellow students will be an enormous source of support, with whom students can share ideas and learn from each other.
|
Getting a Job
All universities and colleges involved in the project offer help and advice to students about landing that first teaching post.
This will cover topics such as where to find out about vacancies, writing a supporting statement and performing well at interview.
Getting their students into jobs is very important to all our institutions and they all aim for a 100% success rate.

Financial Support
Eligible postgraduate trainee teachers are entitled to a tax-free bursary while they train, the value of which will depend on where you train, the subject you are training to teach, and when you start your course.
Some people are also eligible for additional financial incentives such as golden hellos and hardship funds. For further information go to www.tda.gov.uk.
